Castles and Luges

Today, we got to finally see Neuschwanstein Castle!  As we approached the castle, I was a little disappointed because it looked like the castle was covered in tarps. They are currently restoring the castle, but luckily, they only renovate pieces at a time. We took several pictures on the other side! It's amazing that this fairytale castle is in the middle of nowhere! Ludwig II, the king who commissioned this castle, was a little crazy. He was obsessed with theater and decorated some rooms with objects and paintings from his favorite plays. He even built a cave-like hallway. He never even lived in the castle and died a few weeks after it was completed.
After taking a break for a light lunch, we headed for the luge. They look like giant metal slides coming down a hill. However, to ride you need to sit in your own "car" with a lever between your legs. The further you push forward, the faster you will go. When you pull back, the car will slow down or stop. Kids hated being stuck behind my mom. It doesn't seem like she was going fast enough.
